Does your company want to have an object professionally 3D scanned? We can! With our high-resolution 3D scanner, we turn a physical object into a digital and three-dimensional scan. These files can then be edited or optimized for further processing. Afterwards, the scan can of course be 3D printed, if desired!
Does your company have a part without an existing 3D design? Vormz uses reverse engineering to create an accurate digital copy. We do this based on a 3D scan or a digitally recreated model. The result is a file that can be easily modified or reproduced according to your specifications.
Curious about the possibilities for Reverse Engineering for your company? Feel free to contact us.
Our 3D scanning experts know exactly what they are doing. Your physical object is converted to a digital file in detail. In 5 to 10 business days you can expect the digital model in your mailbox. Then have the model 3D printed? We take care of the next step and continue the process immediately. Send us your object and we will gladly start working on the order for your company!
We make a 3D scan of the physical object.
We export the scan to a suitable file format.
We finetune - or even improve - the model. And done!
We can help you prepare a fully functional 3D file!
What is 3D scanning?
3D scanning is basically the opposite of 3D printing; therefore, it is also called Reverse Engineering. Whereas 3D printing involves printing a 3D model into a physical object, 3D scanning actually digitizes a physical object. This digital scan is then exported to a file format suitable for a 3D computer program.

How does 3D scanning work?
The shape of an object is translated into digital information. This is done using a laser, with which the distance between the 3D scanner and the object can be measured.

What kind of objects can you 3D scan?
Actually all kinds of objects! For example, with 3D scanning it is possible to 3D scan a very small object like a ring. But it is equally possible to scan vehicles and buildings.

When is 3D scanning necessary?
Imagine this: as a company, you have an existing object and you want 100 more of these. But you don't have a digital model of the object. Then you can't reproduce the object.
Through 3D scanning, the physical object is converted to a digital file. The great advantage of this is that the already existing object can now easily be duplicated. Or even improved to the customer's requirements.

Does it require a 3D scan before 3D printing?
A digital 3D model is always needed for 3D printing. If you own this digital model, we can print it. Don't you have it? Then the 3D model must be created. Fortunately, we can help with that. We can create such a file using 3D scanning or 3D design.

Can you 3D scan in color?
Yes, it is certainly possible to 3D scan in color.
Want to know more about 3D coloring? Feel free to send us a message.
Which 3D scanner will be used to make my 3D scan?
We use Shining 3D scanners. For objects up to 20cm the Shining 3D Einscan SP scanner is used. For objects larger than 20cm the Shining 3D EinScan HX is used.

How much does 3D scanning cost?
The scanning of an object is calculated on the basis of our hourly rate. On average, we take about 1 hour for objects up to 20 cm.
For objects larger than 20cm, a minimum of 2 hours is required. The exact duration depends on the type of object and whether any post-processing is required.

What are examples of 3D scans?
For the war museum in Overloon, we were commissioned to print a battery cover for an Airspeed Horsa MK1 Assult Gilder. A glider used during World War II. We scanned the object, repaired it and then printed it. The model is now used the aircraft in the war museum in Overloon.
"Recently had the lid of a borrowed original battery from a World War II aircraft [...] scanned, after which this lid was printed life-like. The replica battery is now [...] in the War Museum Overloon. Excellent service and quality for a reasonable price at Vormz in Ede."
On another 3D scanning job, a part of a canoe was no longer available. This part holds the rudder in place. For scanning, we used the Shining3d Einscan-SP, a scanner where the part is placed on a rotating plate.
