SLS

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a technique in our arsenal that we are extremely excited about. The Fuse 1 printers fuse nylon powder layer by layer. The super-strong print laser heats the grains until bonds are formed between them. The result is a very strong end product, which also requires no supporting structures. The technique offers enormous design freedom, as we can 3D print almost anything with SLS.

FDM

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a 3D technique in which layer upon layer of material is printed on top of each other. The base material for an FDM printer is filament, which is a plastic thread that is fused during the printing process. The advantage of 3D printing with FDM filament is the huge variety of materials and colors. Ranging from PLA, ABS, Nylon to bronzefill and wood.

SLA

Stereolithography (SLA) is a 3D printing technique used for products where high demands are placed on accuracy and quality of the final product. The products are constructed from a resin (liquid) that is cured by a laser beam hitting the liquid. This results in a very smooth and sturdy product.

This technique is suitable for 3D printing of industrial products. In addition, SLA is widely used within the dental and medical fields.

Are there limitations on the size of objects you can print?

The maximum print size is based on the 3D printing technique. If a product cannot be printed in 1 go, there are two options for that. The first is to divide and the second is to look at another 3D printing technique. The build volumes are:

SLS printing
FDM printing
Ultra FDM printing
SLA printing

What does 3D printing cost?

The cost of 3D printing depends on the 3D printing technique, size, material and quantities, among other things. Curious about the prices per 3D printing techniques? Check out our Quote & Order page!

What materials and colors can be used in 3D printing?

This varies by technique, but the basis is always a digital design! 3D printing materials are available in an awful lot of colors. So a 3D object can certainly be printed in color as well.

How long does it take to complete a 3D printing job?

This depends entirely on quantities and printing technology. Our standard delivery time is 5-7 working days. For large quantities we also do partial deliveries.

When placing an urgent order, it is wise to contact us by phone. That way it is possible to discuss the possibilities. To check if we can deliver urgently, we do need a 3D file in the format: STP, STL, OBJ or 3MF.

What kinds of things can you 3D print?

Almost anything can be accomplished with 3D printing! Some well-known applications include:

  • Prototypes
  • End products
  • Molds
  • Models

But really, nothing is too crazy for 3D printing!

What file formats do you accept for 3D printing job submission?

3D printing requires a digital 3D model from a 3D drawing or CAD package and saved as an STL, 3MF, STEP or DWG file. If you only have a sketch, we can convert it to a digital design.

Is only plastic used for 3D printing?

No, definitely not. Plastic does represent the most commonly used material for 3D printing. But which 3D material is chosen depends on the requirements of the final product and the technique being used.

For example, in addition to plastic, liquid and materials such as wood and bronzefill are also used in 3D printing. Although the latter two mentioned also contain a small portion of plastic.

Can I 3D print my company logo?

3D printing your company logo is definitely possible! In fact, we have already done this for several companies. Usually this is requested as part of a product. Then the logo is printed inside the product.

But the logo can also be printed per letter in 3D. Up to 40cm x 40cm in size per letter. Ideal for wall mounting, on the counter or in the shop window. For example, we have printed our own logo. This has been given a place in our shop window and has become 2 meters long in total.

What types of businesses are using 3D printing?

3D printing is used and applied by all kinds of companies and organizations.

But it is especially widely used by startups and manufacturing companies. For startups, it is a relatively inexpensive way to produce prototypes or finished products. For manufacturing companies, it is an alternative form of producing the products and their components.

Can I modify or change my 3D printed object after it has been ordered?

This is possible except when the products are already in production. If you want to modify a design please contact us directly via email or phone. The order number is important. That way we know exactly which order/product it concerns.

What stages of the 3D printing process can I contact Vormz for?

You and your company can come to us for every stage of the printing process. From designing, scanning and reverse engineering to create a 3D design to actually printing the product.

We help you realize prototypes, finished products, molds, models and any other 3D objects you need for your business.

We also offer several post-processing methods. Currently, these are mainly focused on SLS. For this we offer: tumbling, coloring, polyshot and vaporsmooth.

3D map of an Egyptian temple

Vormz created a 3D map of an Egyptian temple for us, for a new tour created for people with visual impairments. The floor plan allows our guide to explain how a temple was constructed and how the Egyptians used the rooms. The contact was very pleasant and fast and the end result is even better than we had hoped for! We are extremely happy with it.

SLA printing at Vormz

We contacted Vormz to print several prototypes. These were printed using the SLA technique. The accuracy and finish of the product were perfect and also had good dimensional accuracy. The communication with Vormz was excellent and he also gave good explanations about the printing method. Our parts were printed in such a way that the highest accuracy could be achieved. Definitely recommended for prototyping!

Printing at Vormz I can only recommend

I was looking for a 3D printing service where I could test some printing techniques for prototyping. Also some individual parts for production work. I found at Vormz a smooth service and plenty of options. Short lines, very nice. Thanks for thinking with me and the fast service!
