Have your 3D object designed
A great idea to have a 3D product printed, but no design? We would love to help your company with our expertise and experience!
In order to make a 3D print, a 3D design is required. Such a design can be made by us based on an existing product, 2D drawing, image or even a sketch. Ideal, when 3D printing is the way to realize a product or idea, but no digital file is available. After an agreement on the design, the product will be printed by us.
Based on a sketch or photograph, we can already draw a 3D model. Such a model is designed in a digital file that is printable, called a CAD file. CAD stands for Computer Aided Design. Files with this format are used to design 2D drawings or - in our case - 3D models. The files are created with specific CAD software. The final CAD file will be the basis for customizing the object to your requirements.

As a company, do you own a part, an idea, sketch or image, but no 3D design of it? No problem. Our 3D design experts are happy to help you out. Using reverse engineering, we create a digital file that is printable. We do this by means of a 3D scan or drawing a digital 3D model. Then have the model 3D printed? We immediately put the process through. Send us your object and we will gladly get to work on your 3D question.
We start with your input. This can be an idea, sketch, drawing or image.
We draw your idea into a 3D model in a CAD file.
We fine-tune the 3D model to your requirements. Ready to print!
We can help you prepare a fully functional 3D file!
What is 3D design?
To make a 3D print, a 3D design is needed. If that model does not exist (anymore), the object could not be (re)produced. Fortunately, we can recreate a model through reverse design, called reverse engineering.
We draw that model in 3D based on an idea, sketch or pre-existing product provided by the customer. We design it in a specific file type that is recognized by the 3D printer and can then be printed.
Want to know more about it? Feel free to send us a message.
How does 3D design work?
The designers at Vormz create a 3D model based on your idea. For designing, a sketch with information about the idea is enough. Of course it is also possible to provide an original part. We draw the shape of the object in 3D and translate it into digital information. We do this in a design program in which the model is saved as a CAD file in STL format. Such a CAD file is needed to print the model with a 3D printer. Beforehand, we also discuss the possibilities for printing the object. Think about type of technique, choice of material and optimization for 3D printing. This way we can be sure that we achieve the end result you desire.
Want to know more about this? Feel free to send us a message.
What kinds of objects can you 3D design?
Actually all kinds of objects. We can design very small objects in 3D, as well as larger objects. 3D models can range from a ring to vehicle or boat parts.
The possibilities also depend on what to do with the model next. Are we going to 3D print the model? Then we look at the materials and printing techniques needed for this. These then help determine the requirements of the model.
Want to know if your idea can also be designed in 3D? Request a quote.
Can a 3D design of my company logo be made?
Your company logo 3D on the wall or in a shop window? It's possible! We can convert your 2D logo into a 3D model. And this model can then be 3D printed as desired.
Easily upload your company logo via our order page and request a quote!
When is 3D design necessary?
Imagine this: you have an idea for a product, but now it needs to be turned into reality. How do you do that? A good and affordable option then is to have the object 3D printed.
And printing an object in 3D requires a digital design. And we are happy to help you with that! Based on your idea, sketch or photo, we design the digital model. Now your idea becomes reality and can be printed into a real product. Moreover, with the model your product is endlessly reproducible.

Does a 2D design need to be converted to a 3D model?
When you want to have a design printed in 3D, a 3D model is indeed necessary. In fact, without a 3D design, it is not possible to have a 3D print made.
We would be happy to advise you further on this. Please feel free to send us a message.
Should there always be a 3D design before 3D printing?
A digital 3D model is always needed for printing. If you own this digital model, we can print it. Don't have it? Then it needs to be created. Fortunately, we can help with that. We create such a print-ready file using 3D scanning or 3D design.
Want to know more about the 3D printing process? Read more on our page about 3D printing.
Can you improve my 3D design?
Yes indeed!
Do you already have a 3D design, but it does not yet fully meet your requirements? Or does it not yet meet the design rules of the appropriate 3D printing technique? Then we can support you in this and make improvements.
It can also happen that a 3D model has damage. As a result, the design is not solid and this can cause problems with printing. These errors are often caused by software that works with surfaces instead of solids. Also here we are happy to assist you to solve it properly.
Having doubts about the quality of your 3D model? Send your files and request a quote!
Can you 3D design in color?
Yes, it is certainly possible to design a 3D model in color.
With our software, we can apply different colors/materials in the design. In addition, we can also create 3D renders of the model to be designed. Want to know more about 3D colors? Send us a message.
What is used to create a 3D design?
A 3D design is always created with special 3D software. We have different types of software, so we have a suitable program for almost any kind of job.
Want to know more about the capabilities of our 3D design programs? Feel free to send us a message.
How much does 3D design cost?
This is very difficult to say in advance. In fact, it depends entirely on the type of design.
We're happy to give you a quick insight into it. Request a no-obligation quote and we'll get back to you soon.
What do I need to provide for a 3D design?
For designing, a sketch with information about the idea is enough. Of course, it is also possible to supply an original part. You can also send us a picture or an old model.
Want to know if your idea is feasible? Send us a message.
How long will it take for my 3D design to be delivered?
This is difficult to determine in advance. It depends on the type of product. Is it an idea that requires several iterations? Or is it a part of a machine that is broken?
We are happy to help you get an accurate time estimate. Please feel free to contact us with your questions.
In what file type will my 3D design be delivered?
After designing, the customer usually receives the 3D design in an STL format.

What industry do you design 3D models for?
We create 3D scans and 3D designs for all kinds of companies and industries. The industry often varies greatly from one job to another!
For the war museum in Overloon, we were commissioned to print a battery cover for an Airspeed Horsa MK1 Assult Gilder. A glider used during World War II. We scanned the object, fine-tuned the scan in a design program and then printed it. The object is now being used in a plane at the war museum in Overloon.
"Recently had the lid of a borrowed original battery from a World War II aircraft [...] scanned, after which this lid was printed life-like. The replica battery is now [...] in the War Museum Overloon. Excellent service and quality for a reasonable price at Vormz in Ede."
For an international advertising agency, we designed a 3D model for the purpose of an advertising video.
For FreeAir, we developed a 3D design of a connector for oxygen mask, which was then printed by us.
For Sigrow, we designed and printed cases and accessories for the greenhouse industry.

Vormz created a 3D map of an Egyptian temple for us, for a new tour created for people with visual impairments. The floor plan allows our guide to explain how a temple was constructed and how the Egyptians used the rooms. The contact was very pleasant and fast and the end result is even better than we had hoped for! We are extremely happy with it.
Great experiences with Vormz! Fast quotes, fast delivery and quick, clear communication.
We contacted Vormz to print several prototypes. These were printed using the SLA technique. The accuracy and finish of the product were perfect and also had good dimensional accuracy. The communication with Vormz was excellent and he also gave good explanations about the printing method. Our parts were printed in such a way that the highest accuracy could be achieved. Definitely recommended for prototyping!
I was looking for a 3D printing service where I could test some printing techniques for prototyping. Also some individual parts for production work. I found at Vormz a smooth service and plenty of options. Short lines, very nice. Thanks for thinking with me and the fast service!
